MIGRAIN assessment 1 - learner response

 1) Type up your feedback in full (you don't need to write the mark and grade if you want to keep this confidential).

WWW: Well written english and good use of media terminology throughout.

EBI: Points are not well developed enough and have written down half explained points.

2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Identify at least one potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment.

Q1- I could have used Todorov's theory to suggest that the gun implies disequilibrium and the character looking off screen suggests impending danger.

Q2- I could have mentioned that II Manors wants the audience to get to know the character while Nike wants to stay ambiguous.

Q4- I could have mentioned that the oppostional readings were that the product reinforces negative black stereotypes.

Q3- I could have mentioned "repetition and difference". This allows producers to evolve the genre but also maintain the audience.

3) Read this exemplar response from a previous Year 12 (an A grade) - note this was a slightly different paper in terms of the question wording (we've updated it to better reflect recent exams). Identify at least one potential point for each question from this student's paper that you could have mentioned in your assessment. The student used a lot of context for each of their answers that relate to the question. I should have done the same to pick up the extra few marks.

4) Did you get any media terminology or theory wrong in the assessment? Make a note of it here for future revision, including theories/terminology that you could have used but didn't.  Yes I didn't understand the term "narrative codes". Next time before the exam I should read over every single media term and understand the meaning and context behind it.

5) Identify your weakest question and write five bullet points that would improve on your original response. Use the mark scheme and exemplar paper to identify these points - particularly focusing on the anticipated content and the top level descriptors.

Q4
. Vibe as opinion leaders which links to two step flow
. reinforcement of black stereotypes
.wants the audience to become confident and challenging
.informal language which convey lack of education
.central image is aggressive
