1) Read this Mail Online article about the effects of videogames. How does this article link to the hypodermic needle model? This article conveys that audience can be influenced by violent videogames to do violent acts in real life.

2) How does coverage of the Talk Talk hacking case (see Daily Mail front page below) link to the hypodermic needle model? Why might someone criticise this front page? This young boy is a example of someone who is influenced by a videogame. Someone may criticise this newspaper since they are using his "babyface" to try make the person look less threatening.

3) What do you think of the hypodermic needle theory? Do audiences believe everything they see in the media?
No I don't the hypodermic needle theory is a good way to represent media audiences because fake news can easily be differentiated to real news.

Two-step flow model

1) Summarise the two-step flow model. What is an opinion leader? Assuming the audience consumed media without thinking. A opinion leader is someone on the media who influences consumers with their own beliefs and ideologies.

2) How do influencers like Zendaya fit into the two-step flow model?

3) In your opinion, is the two-step flow theory still relevant today? Yes, I think the two step theory is still important because of the rise of social media platforms.

Uses and Gratifications theory

1) For each of the four categories, write about one media text (e.g. film, TV programme, newspaper etc.) that fits that particular audience use or pleasure. Make sure you explain WHY it fits the category and use images or clips to illustrate your points. The first one is done for you.

Diversion: Film - Blinded By The Light. Entertaining and offering escapism for fans of Bruce Springsteen or anyone that enjoys coming of age films or culture-clash comedies.
Personal Relationships: Any series - The audience may feel connected to a character in a show and will continue to watch episodes to spend more time with them.
Personal Identity: High School movies - This is something the audience can relate to because they are either already in school or experienced school before.
Surveillance: News/Documentary - This is used to educate the viewer.

Dependency theory

1) Do you agree that audiences have become dependent on the media? What evidence or examples can you provide to support your view? I partly agree with that statement and partly disagree because there are young teens who often get influenced by people like Andrew Tate to follow misogynist views while other younger audiences may disagree with him totally.

2) How has the growth of new and digital technology in the last 15 years changed people's dependency on the media? Is this a new problem? Yes more people have access to the media within the last 15 years and can be influenced much more easier with a tap of the phone than back in the 90s and 80s.

3) Reflecting on your own media use, how does your media consumption impact on your emotions? Does the media have an overall positive or negative impact on your health and wellbeing? Why? The media consumption varies my mood due to a massive divide within friendly and negative content online. However overall I think my mental health and wellbeing has gotten better from the media because I got more access to learning and information to feed my brain with.
